NEET Exam Pattern: Overview

The NEET 2026 exam pattern is expected to follow the same structure as the previous
years. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the exam in an offline
(pen-and-paper) mode with multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

  • Mode of Exam: Offline (OMR-based)
  • Duration: 3 hours 20 minutes (200 minutes)
  • Total Questions: 200 (180 to be attempted)
  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology)
  • Type of Questions: Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Language Options: 13 languages including English, Hindi, and regional languages
  • Negative Marking: -1 for incorrect answers

NEET Exam Question Paper Pattern

The NEET question paper consists of four sections:
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Botany
  • Zoology
Each subject is further divided into two sections:
  • Section A: 35 questions (all compulsory)
  • Section B: 15 questions (attempt any 10)
Thus, out of 200 total questions, only 180 need to be attempted.
